Police said each of the victims was shot in the head.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a nighttime mass shooting that left four dead in Mojave, CA.
A public information agency that includes the sheriff’s office confirmed to ABC News that the four victims had been fatally shot in the head. The office received a call about three individuals who had been shot at around 11:20 p.m. local time on Sunday night, according to a press release.
“When deputies arrived at the scene, they found four victims with traumatic injuries,” the press release said.
Officers found two deceased adult females and one deceased male in the home. Another woman was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
At this time, investigators are rapidly searching for clues, but have no suspect or motive for the incident. A representative for the Kern County Sheriff’s Office described the investigation as “difficult” due to the limited number of eyewitnesses to the shooting.
“KCSO homicide detectives are following all investigative leads to identify and arrest the suspect(s) responsible for this crime,” a press release said.
