It happened in a neighborhood of La Banda, when the little one who was playing found the “thrown baby”. They arrested the alleged mother of the girl between 8 and 9 months, who would have been buried two days earlier.
A 6-year-old boy, in Santiago del Estero, found this Wednesday, while playing, the corpse of a newborn baby buried in the patio of his house.
It happened in the Menéndez neighborhood of La Banda, minutes after noon, when the little boy interrupted the housework of his mother, a 22-year-old girl, to whom he yelled that there was “a baby thrown away.”
As reported by El Liberal, the authorities went to the house located in Cervantes at 1700, where they immediately spoke with the woman, identified under the last name Giménez, who recounted that when she looked as far as her son indicated, she found the corpse of the newborn with the umbilical cord in its body, covered by larvae and dirt.
Then, the police contacted the prosecutor on duty, Hugo Herrera, who ordered that the place be preserved until he was present and also requested the collaboration of the Criminal Division and summoned the Health doctor.
There, the first tests of the Forensic experts indicated that a few meters from the corpse of the newborn there was a well in which, apparently, he was buried and was extracted from there by the dogs of the owner of the house.
The same media also reported that the baby, between 8 and 9 months old, would have been dead for two days until the moment the child was discovered. It also transpired that a bloody blanket and shirt were found at the back of the house, in an abandoned area of the land.
The woman denied having seen someone trespass on her land, although she did not do so with certainty, according to the local press.
Investigators seek to determine if the woman’s account would be possible. In addition, she revealed that she lives with her son, her partner and other relatives of hers.
On Wednesday night, authorities detained a woman, whom they suspect to be the mother of the newborn baby.
In statements to Nuevo Diario, Natalia Saavedra, coordinator of the Fiscal Unit for the Banda y Robles District, explained that the woman remains delayed and has not yet been charged.
The results of the autopsy that was to be carried out this Thursday are awaited. It is hoped that it will be able to determine if the baby was born alive and later died, or if it was prematurely expelled by the parturient, who then made the decision to bury him in the place where he was found by children playing in the place.
“Everything is still a matter of investigation, and with the results of the expertise we will adopt the pertinent measures,” revealed Saavedra.
