A police officer shot dead a criminal who tried to steal his motorcycle in the Buenos Aires town of Pablo Nogués on Thursday, along with an accomplice who managed to escape and remains on the run.
The incident occurred on the night of this Thursday at the intersection of Costa Rica Street and the Pilar Branch collection of the Panamericana Highway, in the district of Malvinas Argentinas, in the northwest suburbs.
Judiciary spokesmen told the Télam news agency that a lieutenant of the Buenos Aires police, wearing civilian clothes and wearing civilian clothing, was traveling aboard his motorcycle when he was intercepted by two armed “motochorros” who demanded his vehicle.
Faced with this situation, the agent identified himself and pulled out his service weapon. There was then a brief shootout, which ended with one of the criminals falling to the ground injured by a bullet.
The accomplice, for his part, was able to flee the scene and remains a fugitive, while the lieutenant was uninjured in the armed confrontation.
Ultimately, the wounded thief was killed at the scene by at least four shots. A 9-millimeter pistol with filed numbering was found next to the body.
Prosecutor Marisa Marino, from the Decentralized Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 21 of Malvinas Argentinas, intervenes in the case and orders that the autopsy of the attacker’s body be carried out at the Lomas de Zamora morgue.
On the other hand, this Friday, prosecutor Marino accepted a statement from the police officer as defendant, but decided that the trial should continue in freedom for the time being, since he was acting in the legitimate defense.
