A man with a criminal record tried to steal a car in the town of Ituzaingó this Sunday, although he could not achieve his purpose because the owner of the vehicle, with the help of a group of neighbors, not only managed to reduce it while waiting for police intervention but also who also gave him a series of blows.
It all started when a criminal observed that at the intersection of Albert Schweitzer and Lisandro de la Torre streets, in that part of the western Buenos Aires suburbs, there was a Fiat Palio car parked without its driver and with the keys in place, so he decided to go up to it and try to make it work.
The owner of the vehicle, who had gotten out of the vehicle a few seconds before, watched as the thief boarded the car and quickly tried to enter through the passenger window to apply the handbrake. It was in this context that he started a struggle with the assailant, which led to the car crashing into a wall.
Subsequently, residents of the area went to the place and physically assaulted the offender, while others called the Police, who finally proceeded to arrest him.
Finally, the prosecutor in charge of the district’s Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 2, Patricio Ventricelli, requested the arrest of the man for the crime of “qualified robbery” of a vehicle left on public roads in an attempted degree.
Citizen detention on the Roca train
A thief tried to steal a woman’s cell phone in one of the Roca railway formations, when the doors were closing. But when he ran down the platform, his phone fell onto the track. The train did not start and reopened the doors. There, the passengers themselves managed to immobilize the offender until the police arrived. It happened at the Bernal station, in Quilmes, in mid-March. And everything was recorded by security cameras.
The video is too explicit. A man is seen trying to run away a second before the doors closed. However, in the middle of the run, he loses control of the phone and it falls onto the tracks.
The cell phone falls to the ground, bounces twice, and ends up on the track: in the gap between the formation and the platform. That second of hesitation by the delinquent between looking for him again and continuing was his own trap.
It is that the formation did not start and the doors were reopened. There the desperate woman came out to chase him. The offender ran a few meters, but from another carriage, a passenger managed to intercept him, cutting him off.
After pushing him against the railing, another man waiting on the platform was involved. There, in the midst of struggles, they managed to immobilize the offender. After reducing the thief, the Police were finally notified to proceed with his arrest. The cell phone was recovered.
