Acronis enhances security offerings with Intel® TDT

Acronisa world leader cybersecuritytoday announced the enhancement of its security defenses against advanced fileless attacks using Intel® Threat Detection Technology (Intel® TDT) that leverages the Intel® integrated GPU to offload memory scanning operations from the CPU.

Acronis is the latest cybersecurity company to integrate Intel® TDT to enrich its security products.

With cyber threats evolving and growing daily, Acronis researchers have witnessed new types of malware and enterprise attack vectors, such as polymorphic malware and fileless attacks.

Many threats use an in-memory-only approach that can be difficult to detect. Thanks to Intel® TDT technology, Acronis cybersecurity solutions can free up resources during hard disk and memory scanning, resulting in improved system performance.

Acronis researchers found that while scanning all processes in system memory on supported CPUs, Intel® TDT reduced CPU load by 2.4 times by offloading the task to the integrated Intel® GPU.

The Acronis solution combines complete single-agent cybersecurity with Intel® TDT. This improvement results in lower CPU usage, providing more computing power for productivity and office software used by Acronis end customers, while compute-intensive security operations are performed in the Intel® integrated GPU. Intel® TDT innovation will be available through Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, Acronis Cyber Protect and Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office solutions.

“Integrating Intel® TDT into Acronis cybersecurity solutions is a logical step to meet the needs of our users. Over the past year, we found that nearly 50 percent of detected attacks were fileless. The adoption of this Intel technology is a great milestone as we continue to optimize and improve our anti-malware engine,” said Patrick Pulvermueller, CEO of Acronis.

“Our partnership with Acronis to integrate Intel® Threat Detection Technology into their cybersecurity solutions enables customers of all sizes using Intel vPro® to perform frequent and high-performance memory scans. This is a great benefit to our mutual customers as we help them stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated threats,” said Carla Rodríguez, vice president and general manager, Ecosystem Partner Enabling, Intel.

“As the IT world becomes more sophisticated and increasingly migrates to the cloud, there is increasing pressure on security teams with less integrated technology, leading to complexity and unintentional blind spots in security systems.

“According to a recent IDC survey of 1,015 security professionals in North America, this is especially true for smaller organizations that are less well equipped to effectively manage individual products from multiple vendors or benefit from a strong position negotiating with multiple vendors. As such, they are more likely to resonate with an integrated hardware and software approach to endpoint security,” said Michael Suby, research vice president of security and trust, IDC.

Acronis empowers its users to take back control and overcome complexity with an integrated platform resulting in greater operational efficiency. By implementing an integrated solution such as Acronis Cyber Protect Cloudorganizations can reduce the time security teams spend on various operational activities, reduce training costs, reduce complexity in their environment by minimizing the number of tools under management, and ultimately drive business growth.
