Six Republicans voted in attendance Wednesday before the House narrowly censored Representative Adam Schiff, D-Calif., 213-209 along party lines.

GOP members included Representatives David Joyce of Ohio, Michael Guest of Mississippi, Andrew Garbarino of New York, Ken Buck of Colorado, John Rutherford of Florida, and Michelle Fischbach of Minnesota.

Schiff was censured for alleging that former President Trump’s 2016 campaign colluded with Russia — a vote that made Schiff only the third member of the House to be censured since the turn of the century.

Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz, was censored in 2021 when Democrats still held the majority and former Rep. Charlie Rangel, DN.Y., was censored in 2010.

Joyce told Fox News Digital in a statement after the vote: “As a member of the House Ethics Committee, I have always felt it appropriate to be present to vote on legislation related to matters that are or may come before the committee, rather than prejudge the outcome of the committee’s investigation.”

Fox News Digital has contacted all six members for comment.

No Democrats voted to censure him.

Immediately after the vote, Democrats gathered on the floor chanting “Shame!” and “Shame!” while House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., spent minutes trying to get the House in order. Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., was heard calling McCarthy a “hateful coward” and accusing him of “weak leadership.”

Schiff defended himself against the well of the house.

“To my Republican colleagues who introduced this resolution, I thank you. You honor me with your enmity, you flatter me with this untruth,” Schiff said. “You, who are the authors of a big lie about the last election, must condemn the truth-tellers.

He added: “And I stand before you proudly. Your words tell me that I have been effective in defending our democracy, and I am grateful.”

The resolution of Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., failed last week as it recommended a $16 million fine for Schiff, and passed Wednesday after the fine was removed.

The measure also requires the House Committee on Ethics to investigate Schiff’s “falsehoods, misrepresentations and misuse of sensitive information.”
