A policewoman was walking back to her house, dressed in civilian clothes, when they tried to rob her. According to the woman, a corporal of the Special Technical Investigation Division of the Argentine Federal Police (PFA), two young men approached her on a motorcycle and one pretended to point a weapon at her: she wounded one in the abdomen and the other escaped from her. Everything happened while the debate continues about the policeman who killed a thief who wanted to steal his motorcycle.
This new episode occurred this Tuesday night on the streets 2 de Abril and Vicente López y Planes, in the Las Catonas neighborhood, in Moreno. The woman was returning from her work when she was intercepted by two alleged assailants on a motorcycle. One of them, according to the victim’s statement, identified as Ruth M., tried to take her belongings from her, pretending to have a weapon.
“He identified himself as a federal police officer and fired a shot that wounded one of the assailants in the lower area, while the other escaped aboard the motorcycle on which they arrived,” confirmed police sources consulted by Clarín.
The assailant was transferred to the Mariano and Luciano Vega de Moreno hospital with a reserved prognosis, while the policewoman was referred to the Las Catonas 8th Police Station to testify. The injured man is 27 years old and is apprehended for aggravated robbery.
The investigation was left in the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office No. 1 of Moreno, in charge of Leandro Ventrichelli, who labeled the case as “attempted robbery” and did not take any action with the police. “The evidence indicates that he acted in legitimate defense,” he argued. The second assailant is still on the run.
The case that generates debate
On Sunday night, a Buenos Aires Police sergeant also reported having been the victim of an assault when he was riding a motorcycle with his girlfriend.
The robbery was recorded by a security camera at a bus stop and in the sequence you can also see the moment in which the policeman shot the thief, who ended up dead.
Although the policeman was released, he is charged with the crime of aggravated homicide for being perpetrated by a member of the security force abusing his role and for the use of a firearm. It’s that the sergeant shot the robber in the back while he was escaping.
