Without a doubt, Alejandro Sanz is not going through a good moment in his professional and personal life. The Spanish singer-songwriter suffers from mental health problems, as he announced on his social networks; Furthermore, he ended his love relationship with Rachel Valdés, after three years together; and he would have been scammed by a friend. Now a court sentenced him to face a millionaire non-payment in the purchase of luxury properties in Miami.

At the end of May, the interpreter of Amiga mía left a message on his social networks that raised doubts about his state of mental health, because he stated that he was not feeling well. “I’m sad and tired (…) Sometimes I don’t even want to be there,” was part of what he wrote. He then thanked the expressions of affection that he received.

However, it was later revealed that part of the singer’s personal crisis would be due to a scam that would probably bankrupt him. The singer would have been deceived by a friend, to whom he trusted him to organize the tour for him a year and a half ago in the United States.

In the first days of June, Spanish media indicated that Sanz, 54, and the Cuban artist Rachel Valdés, 33, ended their love affair after three years together. Despite these personal problems, the singer continues with his “Sanz en Vivo” tour in Spanish territory. The last change that Alejandro Sanz had was the change of label. Through Twitter, the Spaniard announced that he was the new artist of Sony Music.

Sentenced for non-payment of properties

Apparently, the problems and bad times for Sanz have not ended. This June 17, El Mundo detailed that the interpreter of Corazón partío was sentenced to face a millionaire default in the purchase of luxury properties in Miami whose loans he stopped paying.

As reported by the Spanish media, the first ruling in the case is from two years ago by the Miami Court, but now a judicial resolution from Spain decreed the execution of the US sentence ordering him to pay three million euros, which he must face with his personal assets.

This judicial resolution is the final point in the process for Sanz’s non-payment of two luxurious properties for which he paid seven million dollars. The most important is an old colonial-style house built in 1933, with more than three thousand square meters, six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a recording studio, heated pool, and private dock. It is located in the Sunset Lake area, one of the most exclusive in Miami. It is estimated that he paid US$4.7 million for it.

The problem for the singer-songwriter began when he stopped paying the loans that had been granted and did not reach a solution in the negotiation, so the financial institution that gave him the loans launched a foreclosure process to recover the properties and put them up for sale. However, the Sanz companies did not respond to the lawsuit and were declared in default by the Miami Court.

The singer’s legal team tried to transfer the properties to the SHEDDF fund so that they could proceed with their sale and thus settle the debts, which did not happen because the artist asked for 14 million for them (double what he paid) and did not deliver the necessary stationery. Therefore, the mortgage went ahead.

The debt in Spain

In September 2020, the Miami Court recognized a debt of almost US$12 million on the part of Sanz, which had to be paid with the auction of the houses. Finally, the properties were sold for almost US$9.5 million, so now the singer must face the monetary difference.

The investment fund asked a Spanish court to recognize the validity of the sentence. Therefore, now Sanz must settle this debt, valued at about three million euros, with some of his assets in Spain.

They also requested the seizure of several trademarks registered by the singer, such as Alejandro Sanz or La Fuerza del Corazón Alejandro Sanz. In addition, shares of their companies Alkazul, SL, Gazul Producciones, SL, and their subsidiaries Rosas and Beats, SL, and New Meloil, SL, as well as the confiscation of the Jarandilla de la Vera farm in Cáceres or a property in Cádiz.
