Andes Airplane Crash Survival Thriller Society of the Snow Set for Venice

Spanish director J.A. Bayona’s “Society of the Snow,” a reconstruction of a 1972 airplane crash within the Andes that pressured survivors to take excessive measures, together with cannibalism, has been set because the Venice Movie Pageant’s closing movie.

The screenplay is by Bayona, Bernat Vilaplana, Jaime Marques, and Nicolás Casariego from the novel by Pablo Vierci. The director of pictures is Pedro Luque (“Don’t Breathe”).

J.A. Bayona made his directorial debut with “The Orphanage” (2007) which launched at Cannes and received quite a few awards together with seven Goyas, that are Spain’s highest movie honours. In 2012 he made his first English-language foray with “The Unattainable, a harrowing catastrophe film that grossed $198 million worldwide.

The eightieth version of the Venice Movie Pageant will run Aug. 30-Sept. 9. The lineup will probably be introduced on July 25.
