An armed suspect dressed as a delivery boy reportedly planned to tie up and rob a Connecticut homeowner, but left after the homeowner fought back, police said.
The Friday morning confrontation was captured on a Ring doorbell camera in East Haven, Connecticut.
A man, later identified as Xavier Otero, was seen in the video wearing an orange safety vest and holding a package in his left hand with his right side nearly hidden from the door.
When the homeowner opened the door, Otero was seen reaching for something to his right and trying to get in, but the homeowner pushed Otero, who looked stunned and ran to a getaway car.

According to police, Otero allegedly brandished a black gun as he attempted to break into the house.
Police distributed the video and photo of a suspect to news and social media expressionsand the tips poured in.

Responding officers identified Otero as the suspect and found him at a relative’s home in nearby Hartford, where he was taken into custody.
“Detectives uncovered an alleged plot to participate in a home invasion in which the occupants of the home would be tied with zip ties and robbed,” the East Haven Police Department said in a statement posted on Facebook following the arrest.

Police learned of a second potential plot in the city of Manchester and quickly worked to obtain and execute a search warrant for a home in Hartford after officers found the getaway car.
“While they were watching the residence, a second male suspect was taken into custody a short time later after being seen in the Dodge Ram pickup truck,” said police, who identified the second suspect as Jean Carrasquillo-Torres.

“As a result of the search and seizure warrant executed at the residence on New Britain Avenue, investigators found approximately 1.1 kilograms of suspected fentanyl and items commonly used in the operation of a drug factory, including a hydraulic press.
“In addition, investigators found in the same room a bag full of heavy zippers, consistent with information they obtained regarding the planned home invasions and weapons-related items.”

Otero was charged with home invasion, first-degree threats, criminal possession of a firearm, and attempted criminal attempt at unlawful restraint.
Carrasquillo-Torres was charged with conspiracy to commit home invasion, conspiracy to commit unlawful deprivation of liberty, and narcotics and weapons charges, according to police.
Otero and Carrasquillo-Torres were held at the East Haven Police Department on $250,000 bond.
