A man has been arrested for the alleged murder of a missing Texas woman whose remains were discovered Saturday, officials said.
Mario Juan Chacon Jr., 24, was taken into custody Saturday afternoon and is charged with murder, according to Midland police. The arrest stems from an investigation into the disappearance of 20-year-old Madeline Molina Pantoja.

She was last seen alive around 11:00 PM on May 10 at 1711 West Francis. The police opened an extensive investigation into her disappearance the next day.
The search for Pantoja has been going on “24 hours a day” for the past week, Midland Police Chief Seth Herman said Friday at a news conference with the FBI, Texas Rangers, Department of Homeland Security and Midland County Sheriffs. Office joins the investigation.

Pantoja’s remains were found about three miles east of 190 County Road and 1160 County Road in Midland on Saturday. An autopsy will be performed in Dallas County as part of the ongoing investigation.
