At least 3 dead, 8 injured in Texas shooting

At least three people were killed and eight others injured in a mass shooting in Fort Worth, Texas, late Monday night.

Fort Worth police officers were dispatched to the site of a large parking lot with hundreds of people. They discovered several victims of gunshot wounds at the scene, and three people were immediately pronounced dead. Another eight were transported to area hospitals and their condition is unknown.

According to initial reports, 10 of the shooting victims are adults and one is a juvenile. The ages of the deceased are unknown.

Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Ft. Worth Police Department Homicide at 817-392-4330 or crime stoppers.

Local media reported that the shooting occurred just hours after the end of the district’s annual ComoFest.

Police have not yet made any arrests in the incident, although their homicide unit has opened an investigation. Officials also have not determined how many gunmen participated in the tragedy.

The incident comes as Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers discovered a string of dead migrant bodies washed up in the Rio Grande. Lieutenant Chris Olivarez, a spokesperson for the DPS, said two bodies were recovered from the river on July 1, one on July 2 and one on July 3. The remains have not yet been identified.

“In the past 48 hours, the Texas Department of Public Safety Tactical Marine Unit (TMU) recovered four dead bodies, including a baby, from the Rio Grande River in Eagle Pass,” Olivarez tweeted Monday afternoon.
