Bob Odenkirk stars in “Better Call Saul.” He was a five-time Emmy nominee but never won.

In 2022, he wrapped up a 13-year career playing criminal lawyer and cartel pal Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, for which he received five Emmy nominations in the lead actor category. Until now, he could never take the statuette for that paper to his house.

Better Call Saul will compete in the Emmys for the last time this year, for the second installment of its sixth and final season.

A writer for Saturday Night Live and co-creator of the sketch comedy series Mr. Show with David Cross, Odenkirk also starred in Nobody, Undone and Nebraska. He also made memorable appearances on I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson and Little Women.

He released a memoir in March 2022 titled Comedy Comedy Comedy Drama.

“I’d like to get back to doing a good funny comedy,” says Odenkirk.

In a recent interview he said: “Better Call Saul has challenged me like nothing else in my life, certainly the professional level was very demanding.”

And he added that the viewer has been rewarded for so much effort. “Acting to me is rewarding when it’s hard, when you really have to push yourself and dig deep and lose yourself in the role you’re playing. That’s when you feel like you’ve done something meaningful.”

“So I want to keep in touch with that difficulty,” he expanded. “I’d also like to get back to doing a good funny comedy, but not only that. I definitely want to continue working in the field that I’m in that put me where I am happily.”
