The agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, reached in Ohrid, is also the subject of discussions at the meeting of the leaders of the European Union that will meet in Brussels in two days.
The High Representative of the EU for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell, is expected to report at this meeting. In front of the media, he warned both to start implementing the agreement
“Let me say that any attempt to question the agreement is futile. The agreement was agreed upon and must be implemented and there is no room to choose. It must be implemented in all its parts and we will watch carefully who has started the implementation and who has not. I would advise both parties to stop pointing fingers at each other and start doing their jobs.”
After reaching the agreement in Ohrid, the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia, upon returning to their countries, have explained the agreement in different ways. Prime Minister Albin Kurti told the assembly that he has proposed a draft for the association that includes self-management and non-self-government, while according to him Serbia will de facto recognize Kosovo. On the other hand, President Vucic said that Kosovo’s membership in the UN will not be allowed and that no legal document was signed, but we will normalize relations with the Albanians, he further emphasized.
