Two California mayors clashed on social media after regulation enforcement was known as to confront anti-Israel agitators on the College of California, Irvine campus.
Whereas replying to a UC Irvine public announcement to college students on X, Irvine Mayor Farrah Khan and former Newport Seashore Mayor Will O’Neill shared their aggressive views as regulation enforcement swarmed onto the California campus after protesters arrange barricades.
“It’s a disgrace that peaceable free speech protests are at all times responded to with violence,” Khan wrote. “Taking area on campus or in a constructing is just not a menace to anybody.”

Following the Irvine mayor’s feedback on regulation enforcement, the previous Newport Seashore mayor slammed Khan’s “careless wording,” saying that she “preemptively accused officers” of violence.
“Cops from Newport Seashore are at present in Irvine offering help on the request of a mutual assist name. Your careless wording makes it seem that you’re preemptively accusing our officers, and officers from the various regulation enforcement companies who responded, of violence,” O’Neill replied.
O’Neill known as for the present mayor to “make clear” her message.
