A California professor is accused of sexually luring a 7-year-old girl into conversations with an undercover FBI agent.
Rodger “Rod” Githens, an associate professor at the University of the Pacific, was arrested Friday and is charged with receiving and distributing images of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, according to a criminal indictment filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.
The criminal charges detail how Githens allegedly attempted to sexually lure a 7-year-old girl into the sting operation. An undercover FBI agent originally met Githens on the Grindr dating app before the two moved their conversation to Telegram, where the professor appears to be opening up.
Githens is said to have said in explicit conversations with the FBI agent that he had previously had sexual relations with children as young as 5 years old.

“We kissed, touched,” the professor said of the alleged sexual activity with a minor.
The undercover officer explained that he had a 7-year-old niece with whom he has been “sexual”.
After a series of messages, Githens said he would “love to make love” with both the undercover cop and the 7-year-old girl.
“I would love to kiss you. Touch both of you. Eat her pu–y,” Githens wrote, according to the affidavit, claiming he is “experienced.”
“Honestly, I like to chat, but I would love it if a dad or uncle invited me,” Githens added.
When discussing future plans to meet the undercover cop, Githens said he would bring the 7-year-old her favorite chocolate bar and an Ariel doll.
Githens was once asked if he “touched” children, to which he replied “with my husband’s nephew (11 years old) I did.”
He said the alleged groping took place in Mexico.
The professor was questioned on April 19 in West Sacramento, California. When officers executed a search warrant and searched his phone, they found multiple examples of child pornography.

In one case, the professor allegedly sent a video of a minor performing oral sex on an adult man.
“I hope it doesn’t drive you crazy,” he said over one of the graphics videos. “I totally get it, it’s pretty extreme.”
Githens’ husband told federal agents that he was unaware of the professor’s possession/distribution of child pornography.
In a statement, a University of the Pacific spokesperson told Fox News Digital that Githens was placed on administrative leave when it learned of the allegations.

“The university is not commenting on ongoing legal proceedings. While we have not received any information about illegal acts involving the university or university property, we are still launching an independent review by an outside investigator,” the spokesperson said.
