Republican presidential nominee Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey, said Friday that he is “living rent-free in Donald’s head” after former President Donald Trump shared a photo of him sleeping on a plane.

In a Friday morning post on Truth Social, Trump shared the photo and wrote: “Resting after over 25 minutes of work!”

Christie responded to Trump’s comments, sharing the former president’s post in a tweet Friday night, calling for additional campaign donations.

“Rent-free living in Donald’s head. Make me a permanent resident. Donate today,” wrote Christie, who was seeking the Republican nomination for president earlier in 2016.

As the race for the White House heats up in 2024, Republicans seeking their party’s nomination continue to amplify attacks on each other. But Christie, unlike many of his GOP counterparts in the election, has repeatedly targeted Trump.

Earlier this week, during an interview with Politico, Christie said Trump is “the cheapest SOB I’ve ever met in my life” and that the former president is “good at spending other people’s money.”

“This is a billionaire who refused to pay his lawyers with his own personal money, and instead men and women who believed in him and wanted (him) elected president, are donating money to try and push his candidacy forward. .. and he is diverting that money to pay for his own legal fees,” Christie told Trump’s outlet on Tuesday.

Christie has also blamed Trump for Republican losses in recent elections, telling Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends” this week that the “drama he has created for the Republican Party over the past seven years has just led to losses”.

“Lost in ’18 in the House, lost in ’20 in the Senate, lost the White House in ’20, lost two more governorships in ’22 and a Senate seat in ’22, and a very thin margin in the House,” he said. “We’ll see what that does to us.”

Christie also said during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” this month that he “will do what I have to do to be on that stage to try and save my party and save my country from the way of being led by three-time loser Donald Trump.”

“Loser in 2018 by losing the House, loser in 2020 by losing the United States White House and Senate, and the worst midterm performance we’ve seen in a long, long time, led by Donald Trump-selected candidates with Donald Trump as the “main issue in many of those races. Loser, loser, loser,” he said.

During a Wednesday night appearance on “Fox News Tonight,” Christie said he “didn’t want to vote for either of them,” referring to President Biden and Trump.

“But you don’t close the door to vote for him,” asked host Lawrence Jones.

“I say I can’t support him,” Christie replied.

“Can you not?” asked Jones.

“I can’t support either of them,” Christie said. “Not Biden or Trump because they are not able and qualified to be president for various reasons – Joe Biden mainly because of age and what we have seen on TV, and Donald Trump because I don’t believe he can win, Lawrence. “
