The Special Court, GJKKO has sentenced Jetmir Kastrati to nine years in prison for cocaine trafficking in several European countries.

On 20.03.2023, in the Special Court of First Instance against Corruption and Organized Crime in Tirana, the trial in connection with criminal proceedings no. 147/1 of 2019 registered in the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Corruption and Organized Crime in Tirana was completed of the defendant Jetmir Kastrati (alias Sokol Krasnici), accused of committing the criminal offense of “Cleaning the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity”, carried out in special cooperation, in the form of a structured criminal group, provided for by the articles, “Structured criminal group” and “Commitment of criminal offenses by criminal organization and structured criminal group”, provided by articles 287/1 letters “a”, “b” and “d” and 28/4, paragraph 333/a 1 and 334 point 1 of the Criminal Code.

In the previous sessions, from the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, in the final conclusions, the defendant Jetmir Kastrati (alias Sokol Krasnici) was requested to plead guilty to the above-mentioned criminal offenses and sentence him to 13 years and 6 months. imprisonment.

In the application of Article 406 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, due to the summary judgment, his sentence of 9 years of imprisonment was finally requested, a sentence which the defendant had to serve in a high security prison.

At the end of the trial on 20.03.2023 by the Special Court of First Instance against Corruption and Organized Crime in Tirana, the defendant Jetmir Kastrati (alias Sokol Krasnici) pleaded guilty to the criminal offenses for which he was accused and was sentenced with 13 years and 6 months of imprisonment.

Due to the abbreviated trial in application of Article 406 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, after the reduction of 1/3 of the sentence, the defendant Jetmir Kastrati (alias Sokol Krasnici) was finally sentenced to 9 years in prison, a sentence which he must serve in a high security prison.

From 2012 to June 2019, the defendant Jetmir Kastrati (alias Sokol Krasnici), as part of a structured criminal group, trafficked very large quantities of cocaine in Denmark, Sweden and Norway, from the sale of which he provided income of criminal origin.

These revenues after 2012 have been transformed into various movable and immovable assets in Albania, thus cleaning the products of criminal activity, through investments in real estate in the area of ​​Velipoja and the city of Shkodra, as well as economic activities in the city of Shkodra, such as a poultry business with the trade name “RENS 2015”, assets or economic activities registered in the name of the defendant’s relatives, as well as previously confiscated in the context of the implementation of Law no. 10192 dated 03.12.2009 “On Preventing and Combating Organized Crime and Trafficking Through Preventive Measures against Property”, amended.

The discovery of the criminal activity, the investigation and the trial of this defendant, in relation to the cleaning of the proceeds of the criminal offense or criminal activity, was made thanks to the close cooperation of the Special Prosecutor’s Office with the justice authorities of Denmark and Norway.
