Donald Trump on Sunday, CNNs said Kaitlan Collins was “not exactly Barbara Waltersat City Hall last week.
The former president’s caustic reference to pioneering TV journalist Walters, who died in late 2022, continued his Jekyll-and-Hyde esteem for Collins, who moderated his first on-air appearance on CNN in years.

“It’s really amazing to see the head of CNN being absolutely criticized for asking me to make a so-called town hall,” he wrote. “Honestly, no one had a problem with what he wanted to do until the show started, when they quickly realized that Ms. Collins wasn’t exactly Barbara Walters, or even close. Then the problems of the radical left started.”
Trump then went after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.Y.) who joined the chorus of disapproval about CNN giving Trump such a platform.
“Neurotic little AOC with the bad-looking boyfriend went crazy,” he said. “‘He owns CNN, he’s in their heads,’ they yelled. CNN, get the GREAT REVIEWS!”
Collins defended itself and the network last week.
“The 70 minutes I spent on stage in New Hampshire with former President Donald Trump was a major turning point in the Republican Party’s search for its nominee and possibly the starting line for America’s next presidential race,” she said. “It is important to remember that he is currently the GOP front runner, a race he is running, as noted, as he faces criminal charges, civil liability and investigations for everything from his handling of classified documents to his business empire. ”
