This Friday, September 29, marked five days since the tragedy that occurred under the El Naranjo bridge, in the Dios es Fiel settlement, in zone 7 of the capital.

At the site, a current destroyed six homes and 18 people were swept away and reported missing.

Five days have passed since that tragic morning and of the 18 missing, 10 have been found dead.

Although the search on ground zero has ended, it has extended to the Las Vacas Hydroelectric Plant, in San Antonio Las Flores, Chinautla.

In the aforementioned place, between Monday and Thursday, the brigades located at least five people dead.

This Friday the 29th, the mobilization of the checkpoint towards the Hydroelectric dam was carried out, where the fifth operational period continued.

In this process, strategies will be used such as search with the use of drones, physical search, technical search and rope descents in areas of difficult access; However, for now the results were negative and no person has recovered.

So far 10 bodies have been recovered, and eight people remain missing. The bodies of three children and seven adults have been recovered.

The National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction reported that according to the coordination carried out at the Unified Command Post, for this fifth operational period an intense search was carried out from the Las Vacas hydroelectric dam to the engine room by the team. specialized from the Municipal Fire Department and by the Humanitarian Rescue Battalion -BHR- of the Ministry of Defense, another search was carried out from the engine room basin to the dam.

Another specialized team from the Humanitarian Rescue Battalion also made descents with ropes in some gullies located on the river in the sector between the El Granizo neighborhood and Tierra Nueva 1.

A search team from the Volunteer Fire Corps maintained coordinated monitoring with the work carried out by the excavators on the river bank within the perimeter of the Las Vacas Hydroelectric dam.

At the end of this operational period, the corresponding coordination will be made at the Unified Command Post to determine the appropriate search and location strategies that will be carried out in the coming days.

This search strategy will be for this Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1. On Monday the 2nd the results will be evaluated.
