Because the municipality is on the list of places at “very high” risk of electoral conflict, the polls closed an hour before the rest of the centers throughout the country.

The measure was taken by the Departmental Electoral Board (JED) of Izabal as a precaution and the risk map prepared by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) in conjunction with security authorities was taken into account to prevent any altercation in the place.
