Germany and France are seeking to mediate for the resolution of tensions in Kosovo.

For this reason, according to the spokesman of the German government, Steffen Hebelstreit, as part of the second summit of the European Political Community taking place in Moldova, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron will hold talks with the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani as well as with the head of the Serbian state, Aleksandër Vucic.

According to the latter, the first step to reduce tensions would be the withdrawal of mayors from the north. The removal of the police units was a request made earlier by Lista Serbe, to which Kurti gave the answer today.

“The tense situation in the north of the country is a consequence of “armed groups, which pretend to be protesters, but in fact are criminal gangs” of Serbia. Of course, I can think of reducing the presence of the Kosovo Police in the municipal buildings in the north, but this will be done when these criminal gangs of nationalism and extreme right chauvinism, which worship Milosevic and Putin, leave. Either let them go to Serbia, or we have to take them to prison”, Kurti said.

And while diplomacy is looking for a solution, incidents do not stop on the ground. Two Albanians were attacked today by a group of Serbs north of Mitrovica. The Kosovo police have not been able to arrest them while the investigators are interrogating the injured to clarify the incident.

Earlier, dozens of citizens responded to the call for protest at the bridge over the Ibër River in Mitrovica, despite the appeals of the Kosovo institutions. The gathered people sang songs like “Besa bese”, “Mitrovica is not divided”, and chanted “KLA”.
