According to the state-run news agency PAP, the event was organized by the Polish government and the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) and was held in Athens.

Pavlopoulos, who served as president from 2015 to 2020, noted that Greece and Poland had formally requested reparations from Germany for the war, demanding that Berlin “take responsibility for its actions”.

He warned against German opposition on the matter, arguing that the issue of compensation could be brought to an international court in the near future.

“We are facing a strong country. Pavlopoulos, “2.

“German authorities are very sensitive to the rule of law, but they say that when it comes to complying with the law, it’s a thing of the past,” he said.

Arkadiusz Mularczyk, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, said, “Poland suffered the greatest losses in the Second World War. Greece suffered enormous human and economic losses. It’s time to start talking about war reparations. Victims deserve compensation from the aggressor.”

Apart from Mularczyk and Pavlopoulos, the conference brought together politicians, lawyers and academics from Poland, Greece, Italy and Serbia.

Since 2015, various Greek politicians have claimed that Germany owes Greece €280 billion ($308 billion) in World War II reparations.

Germany has repeatedly claimed that the issue of compensation was resolved under previous international agreements.
