Starting at noon this Monday, June 26 and for 48 hours, 13 departments of Honduras will be under green alert due to the passage of a tropical wave that will rain rains on the territory.

The departments that will be under alert for 48 hours are: Copán, Santa Bárbara, Intibucá, Lempira, La Paz, Yoro, Cortés, Comayagua, Francisco Morazán, Choluteca, Valle, El Paraíso and Olancho.

According to the Center for Atmospheric, Oceanographic and Seismic Studies (Cenaos), starting this Monday the displacement of a tropical wave will be leaving abundant clouds, rains and weak to moderate and occasionally strong showers, with electrical storms in most of the national territory.

However, the largest accumulated rainfall will be recorded in the northeast, eastern, western, central and southern regions.

It is important to mention that the authorities warned that rainfall in the west of the country will leave between 80 to 100 mm, while in the municipality of the Central District they would reach amounts of 40 to 50 mm.

This amount of rain could cause flash flooding, which in the Republic’s capital began just minutes after a heavy storm.

Copeco asks the population to take all preventive measures, especially people who live in vulnerable areas such as areas of landslides, subsidence and floods.
