A Mississippi man was fatally killed by police Tuesday morning after barricading himself in a home and brandishing a “gun for cops,” the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said.
The shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m. in the eastern Mississippi town of Meridian, according to an MBI press release. Meridian police told WTOK-TV that the shooting happened at Meridian Living, a residential care facility.

Police said a man entered the lobby of the facility and threatened employees with a gun before officers were called. They shot the man after meeting him with a gun, police told the news station.
No officers were injured. MBI has not released any other details about the man who was shot or the officers who responded. The agency is investigating the case, as with most shootings involving law enforcement in the state.
