It happened in Escobar’s house where the victim lived, a 24-year-old girl who was the mother of a baby. Her partner works at the same police station as her.
A young woman who worked for the City Police argued with her boyfriend, also a police officer, and was found dead with a shot to the chest, in the house where she lived in Escobar. Now they are looking to determine who fired the shot.
A call to 911 revealed the tragic scene on Tuesday at noon, in a house located on the corner of Olivera César and Chile, in the Cri Cri neighborhood of the town of Garín. Upon arriving at the scene, the staff of the municipal Patrol Command found Nicole Okonski (24 years old) with a gunshot wound to her chest. Next to her was her boyfriend, who also works in the Buenos Aires Police.
The woman, who was serving at Police Station 12 in the City of Buenos Aires, had no vital signs when she was found. Medical personnel confirmed her death.
Okonski was the mother of a seven-month-old baby, whose photos she shared on social networks. “You are my love, my joy. The truth of my life. My baby who calms my soul with laughter. You are my refuge and my truth,” is one of the last posts he made on Facebook, with a photo of his daughter.
His body presented a gunshot wound to the sternum, with an exit hole in the posterior costal arch, according to the initial report of the Scientific Police experts.
Nicole Okonski, the member of the City Police who appeared dead in Garín.
The version of the police boyfriend: that the victim shot herself
In addition, a projectile was seized, apparently of 9 mm caliber. Prosecutor Mabel Amoretti, in charge of Escobar’s decentralized Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 5, worked on the case.
Inside the house was the young woman’s partner, who also works at the 12th Police Station of the City Police. When questioned, she said that they had had an argument and that after her altercation her agent took her service weapon and that she shot herself in the chest.
The case is legally qualified as “investigation of causes of death”, although the victim and his partner have already undergone the electronic scanning test on their hands. Both regulation weapons, a Pietro Beretta PX4 and a Bersa Thunderbolt Pro, both 9mm caliber, were also seized.
Through the expert reports, it will be determined who fired the fatal shot. Pending the results of the tests, the prosecutor did not request the arrest of the victim’s partner, who is free.
