At its 16th start, Hamelmalo College of Agriculture today, July 8, has 410 students, including 216 women, graduated from diploma and diploma programs.
During the graduation ceremony, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, Minister of Agriculture, government and PFDJ officials and representatives from the UN offices in Eritrea participated, Dr. Haile Mihtsun, Executive Director of Institutions of Higher Education and Research, congratulated the graduates, parents and teachers.
prof. Woldeamlak Araya, Dean of the College, noted that agriculture is the backbone of the country’s economy and livelihood for the vast majority of citizens, and said that the College’s graduates are contributing to the agricultural development of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Arefaine congratulated the graduates and called on them to develop their knowledge in practice and play their part in the efforts to develop the agricultural sector.
Minister Arefaine pointed out that a lot of work is being done to produce chemical-free agricultural products, and that the Ministry of Agriculture produces and distributes organic fertilizers and pesticides to farmers for food security and animal feed.
The graduates, for their part, expressed their praise for the training opportunity provided and expressed their conviction to meet the expectations of the people and the government that gave them the opportunity.
Since its inception, Hamelmalo College of Agriculture has graduated 5,883 students.
