The femicide used his wife’s regulatory weapon, who was a gendarmerie officer.

A gendarmerie officer was shot to death by her partner, who then used the victim’s service weapon to commit suicide. The painting was discovered by their son, a 7-year-old boy who alerted some relatives of the femicide.

The event occurred on Monday morning in a house located on 400 Gorosito Street, in the Buenos Aires town of Bella Vista, San Miguel district, according to police and judicial sources reported today.

There lived the gendarme Jésica García (26) and her partner, Leonardo Giménez (38), together with their son.

As detailed by the sources to Télam, apparently during the early hours of yesterday the couple began to argue and, in this context, Giménez took his partner’s service weapon, a 9-millimeter Prietro Beretta pistol, and shot him in the head.

Then, the femicide hugged the body and shot himself dead with the same weapon, the spokesmen added.

The sources specified that the couple’s son was the one who woke up to find the bodies of his parents and notified his aunt, who went daily to take care of him.

Garcia’s sister notified the police when she barely got home to take care of her nephew, after a trip she took over the weekend.

The woman declared that the couple, who had lived together for a decade, was about to separate due to acts of gender violence, mistreatment and death threats by Giménez, who was constantly jealous of his wife.

However, the woman had never reported it, explained a source linked to the case.

After judicial and police intervention, the couple’s son was assisted by psychologists from the interdisciplinary office of the Women’s Police Station and was left in the custody of his aunt.

“The son was present, he was very ill,” an investigator explained to Télam.

This Tuesday, a neighbor of the couple, identified as Luis, was surprised by what happened.

“I never heard that they argued. I had more dealings with her, he was a calm man, I never saw him upset, I never suspected that he was mistreating his son like that, I am surprised at what happened. I never thought that such a thing could happen,” the man told the C5N channel.

The fact is being investigated by the prosecutor Ezequiel Hermelo, of the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 18 of Malvinas Argentinas, who ordered the first measures, requested the autopsy of both bodies and the declaration of relatives.

“Both bodies had shots with entry and exit holes. They are shots to the head but the autopsy is awaited to have more details,” a judicial spokesman said.
