Two prime Canadian ministers headed to President-elect Trump’s house in Florida on Thursday to speak about border safety and commerce because the incoming president’s inauguration day nears.
New Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc and International Minister Mélanie Joly might be in Palm Seashore, Florida on Thursday for the talks this week, Jean-Sébastien Comeau, a spokesperson for LeBlanc, instructed the Related Press.
Comeau mentioned that LeBlanc alongside Joly will meet with Tom Homan, Trump’s incoming “border czar,” after Christmas to debate Canada’s plan to safe the border as a part of a bid to keep away from sweeping tariffs.
The spokesperson mentioned LeBlanc and Joly “stay up for constructing on the discussions that occurred when the Prime Minister met with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago final month, in addition to the optimistic name the Ministers held with Mr. Tom Homan earlier this month.”

Together with discussing border safety, the Canadian leaders hope to heart talks on fentanyl trafficking and “adverse impacts” of Trump’s tariffs on items.
“The Ministers intend to deal with Canada’s efforts to fight fentanyl trafficking and unlawful migration and the measures outlined in Canada’s Border Plan, in addition to the adverse impacts that the imposition of 25% tariffs on Canadian items would have on each Canada and the US,” Comeau added in a press release.
Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on imports from Canada when he takes workplace in January except the nation reduces the stream of migrants and fentanyl into the U.S.
