The agents are part of the Immediate Operations Tactical Unit of the Province Police and will carry out operations at specific points in the city.

In the midst of the constant episodes of insecurity and violence in the suburban neighborhoods, the municipality of San Martín added 300 troops from the Immediate Operations Tactical Unit (UTOI), a division of the Buenos Aires Province Police that was specially trained and selected to act quickly in criminal situations.

The unit’s new headquarters is located on Avenida Presidente Perón, between Coronel Mom and Frondizi, where different police units have always operated. The agents will carry out security operations at specific points in the city.

Technically, it is a tactical prevention and deterrence unit. This means that it stands somewhere between elite groups like GAD and Halcón (prepared for the fight against drug trafficking, assault and hostage-taking) and the traditional agents who patrol and walk the streets. They have training to prevent and deter, but also tactical and operational capabilities.

The UTOI was trained to act quickly in criminal situations.

They also have training to act in situations of family conflicts, gender-based violence and mental health problems.

On the other hand, 10 0 km trucks and eight 750-cylinder two-manned BMW motorcycles were also incorporated, to reinforce patrolling throughout the city.

In this way, there are already 69 cars and trucks that have joined the district since 2021, including municipal and provincial patrol cars, in addition to the new motorcycles.

10 new vans and eight BMW motorcycles were also incorporated.

“This action is part of a set of measures to reinforce security that arise from the coordinated work and collaboration of the Municipality with the Ministry of Security of the Province, to find solutions to one of the main concerns of the neighbors, which is insecurity”, highlighted the mayor Fernando Moreira.

In the presentation of the new troops and patrolmen, the communal chief was accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Security, Carlos Montaña, the Undersecretary of Training and Professional Development, Javier Alonso, the Chief of Staff of San Martín, José María Fernández, and the Undersecretary of Security, Graciela Fernández.

Earlier, the Communal Chief accompanied the Minister of Transportation of the Nation, Diego Giuliano, in the presentation of the Safe Train Command of the Miter line in Retiro, a program that, according to reports from the commune, has already managed to reduce crimes by 43% at railway stations.

There were 300 troops that joined the new UTOI of San Martín.

It is a new monitoring center that works in coordination with the security forces and the Municipalities, to improve passenger safety. It includes monitoring cameras, smart security totems, watchtowers and security operations, and adds to the Safe Trains system that has just been implemented on the line.

In the case of San Martín, it involves the Miguelete, San Martín, San Andrés, Malaver, Villa Ballester, Chilavert and José León Suárez stations.
