After 28 hours of swimming in the open sea in the channel of Otranto, the Australian lawyer of Albanian origin, interrupted her challenge due to the difficult state of health and the bad situation at sea.

In an interview for Top Channel, she explains technically why this was not her day.

“Uhh how hard…of course I expected it to be hard. In swim challenges like this you expect some things to go wrong, but in this swim nothing was in my favor. I learned a few things after trying it, so on the first day it took me 9 hours to cover 14 km, generally on a normal day it takes me 4 hours for that distance. Of course, the sea currents do their thing, sometimes you are against them, sometimes in your favor, and we had anticipated the swim that could last about 30 hours, because according to my pace, I swim half a kilometer in an hour and when it starts, you think about these difficulties and realize that it was necessary double the time to do the same distance that you do normally, you start to feel psychologically burdened and if you always think that I can make it, there came a point when you said, this is not the day,” said Eva Buzo, lawyer.

At the end of the race, Eva showed some photos showing the signs of her injuries during swimming.

“Once the race was over, I went to the hospital, but I was fine, they helped me and did all the necessary checks, but in fact, in the photo, the situation looked more serious than it was. I was just very tired, I swam for 28 hours, I almost fell asleep,” said Eva Buzo, lawyer.

The Australian lawyer of Albanian origin says that in the repetition of the challenge there will be some Albanians in her staff who know the sea.

“Now that I’m still here I’ve met some people who know the sea very well in Vlora and I’ve taken their advice, I’d really like to do it again next year, to have some of them on my staff and maybe we’ll make it this time.” – said Eva Buzo, lawyer.

Among many things that surprised Eva in this challenge, her first Albanian one, was Instagram.

“When I got in the water I was only 300 followers on Instagram and when I finished it I noticed that my Instagram had blown up which was pretty cool, I never imagined that people would be interested in my swimming. I thought that when I finished the race, I would only find my cousins waiting for me on the beach. I was very touched by all that support and I am very satisfied,” said Eva Buzo, lawyer.
