The Latino community not only mourns the vile murder of five Hondurans in Cleveland, Texas, United States, it also unites.
The Uruguayan influencer Carlos Eduardo Espina traveled from his place of residence in the United States to the area where the tragedy occurred to learn about the difficulties that the relatives of the victims are going through and to show solidarity with them.
The victims were identified as Josué Jonathan Cáceres (18), Obdulia Rivera, Diana Velásquez, Sonia Argentina Guzmán and her son Daniel Enrique Guzmán (9).
Some of them were originally from Taulabé, Comayagua and others from Yoro.
The young man, who has more than five million followers on TikTok, more than 300,000 on his Instagram account and many others on the other platforms, decided to start a campaign of rFundraising on GoFundMe and the accumulated will be delivered to those affected. By Sunday afternoon, he had already raised more than $156,000 of his $200,000 goal.
“This collection is for funeral expenses and to help the relatives of the deceased. More than anything to help the 6 minors who lost their mothers and will need a lot of support”, indicates the request made by the content creator, where he included the photographs of the deceased.
Espina, conducted a brief interview with the survivors and uploaded it to her social networks, where she asked for the support of the Latino community and thanked them for each contribution.
“We hope that you will help us because we were not prepared for this, we hope to have your support… We are devastated, I do not wish this on anyone,” said Jefrey Rivera, husband of Diana Velásquez, one of the victims of the slaughter.
