A rescue team carried an “injured and exhausted” dog down England’s highest mountain last weekend.

The 73-pound dog climbed Scafell Pike, located in the Lake District National Park, with his owners on Saturday, but “refused to move” on the way back down the mountain, the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team wrote on Facebook.

The owners called for help around 6:25 p.m. local time, according to the rescue team, which sent a 13-member team to reach the injured pooch.

“Despite being a fairly large dog at 33 (kilograms), it was a pleasure to carry such a relatively light victim,” rescuers said in a statement. “The victim remained cool, calm and absolutely regal the entire time.”

Rescuers also carried the dog when the terrain became rocky and steep. Scafell Pike is located in the Lake District National Park in the North West of England. (MRT Keswick)

The entire rescue operation, the crew’s 42nd this year, lasted 4 hours and 18 minutes.

This wasn’t the first time the team had had to climb England’s highest mountain to rescue an exhausted dog.

In July 2020, the team rescued a St. 121-pound Bernard named Daisy after she collapsed on Scafell Pike while descending with her owners.
