The role of the public sector in the digital economy

If Africa uses the wand of technology to chart its own trajectory, public sectors across Africa could benefit from playing a role in the advancement of smart municipalities and smart cities(2) (3) . Mactar Seck, Chief of Tech at the UN Economic Commission for Africa, will discuss this with Head of IT at Sentech and acting CIO of Post Bank, Nomahlubi Ogoh, and Joseph Ndaba, 4IR Commissioner at the Presidential Commission on the Fourth Industrial Commission in South Africa and CEO of Mafikeng Digital Innovation Hub.

These panelists will share their foresight to discuss how technology can enable more efficient access to basic services such as transportation, housing and healthcare.

Boniswa Sidwaba from TikTok Africa will rub shoulders with Alex Goldberg from renowned Ogilvy Africa to discuss the limitless potential of Africa’s creative economy. Makers from Africa are experiencing an Afro renaissance, invoked by their optimism and their knack for shaking things up. Sidwaba and Goldberg will talk through programs about how they work with creatives; ways creatives can connect to networks and business opportunities; and how sharing authentic stories has helped many creators succeed.
