An Iowa man was sentenced to 16 years in jail for a drag-racing crash that killed a 4-year-old boy.
A jury in November discovered 48-year-old Keith Eric Jones of Des Moines responsible of murder by car, working below the affect, reckless driving and knowingly leaving the scene of an accident leading to loss of life. The sentence was handed down Thursday.

One other man, Robert Lee Miller III, was beforehand sentenced to 30 years in jail for his function within the Dec. 13, 2022, wreck that killed 4-year-old Marcos Faguada and injured his aunt, Mayra De Catalan.

Marcos died at a hospital.
At Jones’ sentencing, Marcos’ mom mentioned he cherished to bop, inform jokes and put on superhero costumes.
“As a mom, my coronary heart is damaged and I’m without end marked since you took my son away from me,” Elva Galvan informed Jones. “I’m not the joyful person who I was.”

Along with the jail time, Jones should pay $150,000 to Marcos’ household.
