Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is feared to have been killed in a helicopter crash together with Overseas Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian. state media reported Monday.

Iranian state tv reported that there was “no signal of life” on the crash website of the helicopter carrying Raisi, Amirabdollahian and others.

Raisi was getting back from a ceremony to inaugurate a dam on Iran’s shared border with the Republic of Azerbaijan when his helicopter crashed whereas touchdown within the Varzaqan area of northern Iran on Sunday night native time, in response to state information company IRNA.

East Azerbaijan Governor Malik Rahmati and Raisi’s safety officer have been additionally on the helicopter.

The president’s convoy consisted of three helicopters, two of which landed safely. This was reported by the Iranian semi-official information company Tasnim.
