Yemen’s Houthi rebels say supporting the Palestinians is a “religious and moral obligation” even as US and British attacks target the group on ships bound for Israel. The Palestinian football team plays its first match at the Asian Cup against the backdrop of war. An Israeli army attack hit a house in Rafah overnight, killing fourteen Palestinians, including a two-year-old girl. More than a hundred Palestinians have been murdered there in the past 24 hours. Israel has carried out night raids on several towns in the occupied West Bank, such as al-Mazra’a al-Gharbiya, northwest of Ramallah; Biddya, west of Salfit; and Nablus. Israel has also deployed bulldozers in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank. Two sisters of Saleh al-Arouri, the senior Hamas official killed in Beirut, are among several people arrested in raids in the West Bank overnight, according to Wafa. Israeli War Cabinet Ministers Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot attended a protest demanding the release of prisoners held by Hamas in Gaza. Two Paltel employees were among dozens killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza on Saturday, as the Gaza Strip suffered a new telecommunications outage.

100 days of war

Pro-Palestinian protests were held around the world, with the US capital Washington DC seeing the largest turnout to date. Tel Aviv also marks 100 days since Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack with a 24-hour event that began in Tel Aviv at 6:29 a.m., the start time of the attack. “No one will stop us. Not The Hague,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a speech marking the 100 days of war on Gaza, referring to the genocide trial the country is facing before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) renewed its calls for an end to the killings of journalists by the Israeli army as the war enters its 100th day.

Genocide trial

Namibia said Germany has failed to “learn lessons from its horrific history” by supporting Israel at the International Court of Justice, part of hearings in which South Africa has accused Tel Aviv of committing genocide against the Palestinians. The ICJ concluded hearings in The Hague on Friday, with South Africa claiming it had “genocidal intentions” against Israel in its war on Gaza, and accusations that Israel rejected as “defamation”.
