Milagros, the one-year-old sister of Aitana, said it, who died in Isidro Casanova when two young people aboard a stolen motorcycle collided with the car that was going to a church.
It was 7:45 p.m. on Monday when Jonathan Gauna (37) and Ximena Mogaburo (37) got into their Renault Megane to go to church with their one-year-old baby. They had not gone three blocks since they left their house when they were surprised by a motorcycle that, without lights and at high speed, collided with the passenger door.
Inside was Ximena, with Aitana in her arms. The impact was so strong that the car was destroyed. The girl, who was in the passenger seat, flew and ended up on the asphalt, along with a cord.
“My dad started looking for her everywhere in the car and couldn’t find her. That’s when he came out and saw her that she was next to the curb on the sidewalk,” described Milagros Gauna, the eldest of the five siblings the couple had.
Aitana had turned one year old on April 27. He died when a stolen motorcycle crashed into the car in which he was traveling with his parents, in Isidro Casanova.
In those seconds of despair, in which Ximena was injured and unconscious and in which Jonathan did not know where his daughter was, Enzo Sotelo (23) and Ángel Joel Colche (22), who were on the Bajaj Rouser 250 motorcycle, decided to escape and abandon the victims.
Milagros “cried all she had to cry” to “be strong” to contain her mother, she said. It is that on Tuesday Ximena regained consciousness at the Paroissien Hospital, in La Matanza, and they had to tell her that Aitana had died.
The baby, who had turned one on April 27, arrived at the health center in serious condition after suffering a cardiac arrest in the ambulance that was transporting her. Attempts to revive her continued for more than an hour until there was nothing to do.

While they were in the hospital, devastated, a young man arrived in the box of an ambulance. It was Colche, who was accompanying the motorcycle that hit the car at the intersection of Hilario de Almeira and Jacobo Watt, 150 meters from his house.
Colche and the Gauna family were neighbors. They had known each other since childhood: “They have a criminal record, we know it. One of the murderers lives two blocks from my house, we know him as a boy. We know they have a criminal record, the other one too,” Milagros questioned in dialogue with TN.
And he added: “Both are guilty, that’s why we want justice, nothing more than justice, that they both pay for what they did. At the moment it happened, another motorcycle was behind but we don’t know if they came with them, so they says they had been robbed in the area, 20 minutes before they had robbed a lady near there”.

Judicial sources confirmed to Clarín that they certified that “in pursuit with the Police they did not come” the two suspects. But they requested a “survey in the area” and the Police reported that “there were no criminal acts reported in that time slot.” Meanwhile, they still could not confirm if the young people had a criminal record.
The truth is that both were arrested. Colche, admitted to the hospital with police custody; Sotelo, at the police station. They are charged with “culpable homicide and concealment.”
It is that the motorcycle they were riding on had been stolen in the City of Buenos Aires, so they are investigating whether they were responsible for that theft or under what circumstances they acquired it.

“My mother has complications with her chest, broken bones, fractured ribs, her face is stitched. Apart from the pain, we are accompanying her,” said Milagros. This Wednesday they hoped to watch over the baby and say goodbye in the privacy of her family.
Aitana was in the passenger seat, without a seat belt or Child Restraint System (SRI), contrary to what corresponds to her age according to a national decree. That is why the murder charge will be a challenge to Justice.
Prosecutor Claudio Fornaro expressed his intention to uphold the charge for homicide, although it will depend on what the Guarantees judge indicates in relation to that.
In parallel, he confirmed that “the cover-up is an independently charged fact. And the imprudence verified by the person who was driving the motorcycle is accredited”, for which they will remain detained.
