KCB Bank celebrates female golfers

The Entebbe Ladies Open returned in its 13th edition with a rich regional roster of female golfers. KCB Uganda sponsored this event as part of its commitment to recognizing women in the sport and further strengthening their participation in golf.

The 2023 Entebbe Ladies Open, a women’s only tournament, brought together the best female golfers from the region, who competed over two days on the prestigious Entebbe Golf Course. The tournament took place from 3 – 4 March 2023.

“KCB Bank has a longstanding commitment to supporting women’s sports and empowering women in all areas of life. This sponsorship is just one example of the bank’s commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of society,” said Diana Komukama Ssempebwa, Head of Marketing and Communications at KCB Bank Uganda.

“We are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to sponsor such an exciting and important event. Participating in this tournament is one of the many ways and initiatives that KCB Bank undertakes to meet our new brand goal: For People. For Better, which we recently unveiled in Uganda,” added Komukama.

“Women’s sport has come a long way in recent years and we are proud to be a part of this journey. We believe that by supporting events like this, we can inspire more women to take up sport and pursue their dreams.”

During the tournament, Martha Babirye came out on top with 149 points, while Magala Eva came in second (157 points) and Nsenga Mackline came in third with 159 points. The game attracted a high attendance with 266 players playing on the course for two days.

Jacob Byamukama, President of Entebbe Golf Club at Entebbe Golf Club highlighted the longstanding partnership with KCB Bank. “We are proud and grateful for the support and cooperation we have had with KCB Bank over the past two years. We hope that the partnership between Entebbe Club and KCB will last a lifetime,” he said.

“Through such platforms, we are giving female golfers the opportunity to showcase their skills, raise awareness about women’s sports and create a positive impact on the economy,” he added.
