Former Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney will publish a new book this fall about former President Trump and the “threat posed by his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.”
Cheney was Trump’s leading critic within the Republican Party and has been instrumental in the House’s investigation into the January 6 protests at the Capitol for the past two years. Nevertheless, she paid the price for her defiance of the former president in a landslide defeat to Trump-aligned challenger Harriet Hageman in 2022.
“The past two years have shown us once again that our constitutional republic is not self-sufficient,” Cheney said in a statement about the book.
“It survives only because of the courage and honor of individual Americans. As history looks back to this time, every elected official will have to answer the questions: Did we do our duty? Were we true to our oath of office?” she continued.

Cheney’s book, “Oath and Honor,” will serve as an “urgent warning” to Americans, according to publisher Little, Brown and Company. It will detail Cheney’s insider view of the congressional committee charged with investigating Jan. 6.
Cheney will also use the pages to make her case for why more Republicans should turn against Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
LIZ CHENEY ON WHETHER SHE PREFERRED THE DEMOCRAT: ‘IT’S A HARD QUESTION’
It has long been rumored that Cheney is a potential primary challenger to Trump, but she has yet to formally enter the race. So far, Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy have run for office.

Cheney is one of the few others for whom observers have some expectation to enter the race. Also on that list is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Trump currently has a commanding lead over both announced and potential candidates in the primary field.
