Choguel Kokalla Maiga on the security crisis in Mali, defense cooperation with Russia and the forthcoming constitutional reform.

The withdrawal came after the army came to power in 2020 and demanded that all French troops leave Malian territory.

Since then, Mali’s military leaders have turned to Moscow for defense and economic cooperation.

And the caretaker government has postponed a constitutional referendum to restore democratic rule.

So, will the military transition to civilian government? Or will it expand its grip on power?

Mali Prime Minister Choguel Kokalla Maiga talks to Al Jazeera.
