Conspiracy theorist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) attempted to question a witness at a hearing on alleged “left-wing organized violence” on Tuesday.
But maybe she got more than she bargained for with the answer.
Greene started by mispronouncing the name of the witness, Amy Spitalnick, a senior adviser on extremism at Human Rights First, a human rights organization. Then Greene suggested that people who perform abortions are the real “white supremacists,” who paused mid-rant to attack Spitalnick.
‘Do you find this funny, Miss Spitalnick? Do you find this funny?” she asked. “Is it funny that babies are killed in the womb because you’re grinning and laughing at me now.”
Spitalnick responded with a very serious response — not about abortions, but about the real threat of white supremacist violence.
“What’s not funny is the black people and Hispanic people and Jewish people and Muslims who have been killed in synagogues, in churches, in supermarkets, in mosques, by white supremacists,” she said.
“Are you aware that all people of color are being killed?” Green replied. “That is a fact, that every colored person has been murdered. That’s not unusual. It’s not just that people of color are being killed, white people are being killed too.”

Greene also attacked transgender people, claiming “trans-terrorism“was behind mass shooters and took offense to the term”cisgender.”
Spitalnick later called her dealings with Greene and others on the right “appalling.”
Greene, a close ally of the House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-California), spoke at a white nationalist event last year.
She downplayed the threat of white supremacist violence.
“White supremacy should not be the main target”, she said last year.
Greene has also pushed mass shooting conspiracy theories, and implied last year that they could have been staged.
