Moments of great tension lived this Wednesday during an attempted riot at a police station in Rosario, Santa Fe, where a group of prisoners set mattresses on fire and caused a large police deployment in response, as well as the arrival of firefighters to control the fire. .
The episode occurred at police station No. 16, located at 3,300 Ayacucho Street, in the Tablada neighborhood, in the southern area of the city of Santa Fe. There are 24 inmates there.
It was there that two detainees who were going to be transferred began to burn mattresses in protest and with the intention of preventing them from being relocated to another section. The situation worsened when the rest of the inmates rioted in defense of their companions.
This situation unleashed a strong police operation, with the presence of the National Gendarmerie, which ended with the protagonists of the conflict reduced. The riot could be controlled and the firefighters successfully put out the flames.

Despite the claim, the two prisoners in question were transferred to police station No. 24, in the neighboring town of Granadero Baigorria.
According to the first reports, no injuries were reported among the police personnel, although it is unknown if there were any injured among the detainees.
The 21-year-old mother of one of the detainees at that police station complained in dialogue with Rosario’s Channel 3 that “the prisoners are in poor condition” and that “they sleep piled up on the floor” due to the alleged “lack of space “in the cells.
