12 of the 45 persons detained in the framework of the “Network” operation have appeared before the Elbasan Court to familiarize themselves with the security measure.
Due to the large number of detainees, the security measures were divided into two days, while dozens of police vans accompanied the detainees and formed a wide security perimeter around the court of Elbasan. The session was attended by judge Idush Maliqi, while the head of the prosecution Kreshnik Ajazi asked for prison arrest for 37 people, 5 under house arrest and 3 investigations in a free state.
The 45 detained persons, 7 others who are wanted and 29 who were previously decided to be pursued at large are accused of production, trafficking and sale of narcotics.
One of the biggest anti-narcotics operations ever developed was in the district of Elbasan and Pogradec. The police said that they completely hit one criminal group and partially hit 3 other groups.
As part of this operation, the police seized 1 kilogram and 311 grams of cocaine, 860 grams of heroin, 1 kilogram and 317 grams of cannabis, thousands of doses of cocaine, heroin, cannabis and methadone, cannabis seeds, a model 56 firearm, quantities of combat ammunition, parts of firearms, silencers, cold weapons, a large amount of money of 51 million alleks, 15 thousand euros, as well as an amount of Swiss francs.
