Memorial procession to start for B.C. teen wildfire fighter who died on responsibility

A memorial procession and repair is about to start Saturday afternoon for 19-year-old Devyn Gale who died final week combating a wildfire close to Revelstoke, B.C.

The B.C. Wildfire Service says the procession in Revelstoke will begin at 12:45 p.m. PT on the native fireplace rescue providers constructing. It is going to embrace Gale’s B.C. Wildfire Service colleagues, a color occasion, an honour guard and representatives from first responder businesses.

Gale died after being trapped beneath a tree whereas clearing brush close to a small fireplace in a distant space outdoors Revelstoke on July 13.

Gale is the primary wildfire fighter to die in B.C. in virtually a decade. The B.C. Wildfire Service didn’t say which fireplace she was combating when she died.

As of Saturday morning, three wildfires have been burning inside 50 kilometres of Revelstoke, a mountain group about 150 kilometres west of the Alberta border.

RCMP and WorkSafeBC are investigating {the teenager}’s dying.
