A Mississippi man, and former Republican congressional candidate, pleaded responsible Friday in connection to the vandalism of a statue of a pagan idol on the Iowa state capitol in trade for the dropping of a hate crime cost. 

Michael Cassidy pleaded responsible to an aggravated misdemeanor depend of third-degree felony mischief, the Des Moines Register reported. He was slated to go to trial on June 3.
