The criminalistics expert, Ervin Karamuço, has confessed to the show “Top Story” the secrets of wiretapping in Albania.

From glasses, to brooches, watches, mobile phones, nails and artificial nails with a camera inside, the Albanian surveillance market has advanced, according to Karamuço, because there is such a great hunger to spy on each other.

Excerpts from the debate:

Grida Duma: How is it possible that this whole scheme is played out across this sophisticated level of eavesdropping tools and become so comfortable, so loose, with this kind of structuring. This of Alma K. entered the expensive interception compared to others or not?

Karamuço: It’s a scary reality, it’s an illegal market, because to intercept a person, take the equipment and put it in the car, as is usually the case with so-called private detectives, you have committed 6 criminal offences.

If these 6 crimes are added together, they are more than 20 years in prison. Since the stalking, because there have been cases when the husband and wife tell each other that “he will eavesdrop, he will stalk everywhere”, that fear is also a kind of stalking. You are blackmailed and pressured all the time about what is happening to you. There are also those who are very attached to these. To then move on to the sale of sim cards. Because most of them have a sim card that they use for transmissions, whether it’s the GPS that we usually use and put on someone to find out where he goes. There is also a criminal offense for that, it is 3 years in prison. And then to continue with the interference in private life, misuse of equipment, interference in the system, illegal interception, there are 6 offenses.

Now I say that here there are shops and an informal market, starting from glasses, and continuing with brooches, watches, mobile phone yes and yes because it is our biggest enemy if you keep it like that… There are nails today, small nails . Screws have arrived so you can hold them like that, take them and put them in a place, they are cameras. What is happening today in Europe will come very soon and has turned into a big challenge, an artificial nail with a camera inside. So what is this great hunger of this market to eavesdrop on each other. We can intercept, but we take criminal responsibility upon ourselves.

I have spoken with many private detectives, for me it is a profession that should be legislated in Albania. Many attempts have been made. Deputy Jenisheri, if I am not mistaken, proposed it in the parliament and it was not approved at that time. All these devices must be placed on the tracks of the law.
