New York lady, 28, sentenced to 8½ years in jail in deadly shoving of 87-year-old singing coach

A 28-year-old former occasion planner, who pleaded responsible to manslaughter in August, has been sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in jail for the unprovoked shoving of an 87-year-old Broadway voice coach onto a Manhattan sidewalk final yr. 

Manhattan state Supreme Courtroom Decide Felicia Mennin on Friday added six months to the eight years already agreed upon in Lauren Pazienza’s plea deal, saying she didn’t imagine Pazienza had taken duty for her actions. 

Pazienza left Barbara Maier Gustern bleeding on a Chelsea sidewalk quickly after the lady cracked her head March 10, 2022, on account of Pazienza’s shove. She suffered a “large hemorrhage” on the left aspect of her mind and died after 5 days in a hospital.

As a part of a plea deal, Pazienza admitted to hurling profanities at Gustern and deliberately shoving her to the bottom. Her motive stays unclear.

Prosecutors beforehand stated the youthful lady rushed Gustern on a Chelsea sidewalk, known as her a “b—-,” and knocked her to the bottom from behind.

She has been held on the Rikkers Island jail since March 2022 when a decide revoked her bail.

Gustern was a vocal coach whose purchasers have included such celebrities as Blondie singer Debbie Harry, in addition to Kimilee Bryant, a South Carolinian performer who referred to her former mentor as her “New York mother,” and who instructed Fox Information Digital that Gustern and her late husband had taken her in when she arrived within the Massive Apple years in the past for her first stint on Broadway in “The Phantom of the Opera.”
