A man from East Islip, New York, pleaded guilty to murder and firearms charges in connection with the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man in 2021, which was caught on video.
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced that Ismael Rodriguez-Rosado pleaded guilty to the August 2021 murder of Bay Shore German Ariel Montes De Oca Ramirez outside a restaurant.

Investigators learned that Rodriguez-Rosado and Montes De Oca Ramirez got into an argument outside Mi Nueva Encanto Restaurant and Bar in Central Islip at approximately 1:00 AM on August 2, 2021.

During the altercation, Rodriguez-Rosado shot Montes De Oca Ramirez four times with a 9mm pistol, killing him.
A witness called 911 to say shots were fired outside the bar and a red Ford Edge SUV left the scene heading south on Carleton Avenue.

According to the investigation, Rodriguez-Rosado drove the SUV to a gas station, where undercover officers spotted the vehicle and tried to stop it from driving away. But Rodriguez-Rosado hit the undercover vehicle and escaped from the parking lot.

He then led police down Commack Road, where Rodriguez-Rosado allegedly drove erratically down the center of the road toward oncoming traffic.
The officer struck the rear wheel of Rodriguez-Rosado’s vehicle, causing it to spin and come to a stop. He was then placed under arrest.

Investigators using the Suffolk County Police Department’s K-9 unit found the murder weapon about a mile from where Rodriguez-Rosado was arrested.

Investigators also recovered and viewed surveillance footage that captured the murder as it occurred.
Tierney said Rodriguez-Rosado was convicted of first-degree attempted robbery in 2016, for which he was sentenced to two years in prison, followed by three years of supervision upon release.
He appeared before Suffolk County Court Judge Stephen Braslow on Monday and pleaded guilty to manslaughter and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

“This defendant took the life of Mr. Montes De Oca Ramirez in cold blood and then attempted to flee with no accountability for his actions,” Tierney said. Fortunately, thanks to the great work of the Suffolk County police officers, this defendant was quickly arrested after leading police into a high-speed, violent chase. In addition, a K-9 unit found the murder weapon and detectives found video recordings of the murder This was by-the-book police work.”
