“The commissioner found my card, sent me a photo and told me to stay calm,” said the victim.
A retiree reported that he forgot a debit card at an ATM in the rural town of Gan Gan, in the department of Telsen, Chubut, and that police officers from the local police station took 380,000 pesos from him.
The victim denounced the fact this Thursday in dialogue with Radio 3. Although he explained that it all started on March 20, he complained that no one had yet returned the money.
“I went to Gastre for a few days and when I returned I went to the Gan Gan ATM to get 2,000 pesos. There I entertained myself looking at receipts and forgot the card,” his story began.
And he continued: “When I arrived in Trelew, I realized that I had forgotten and called the police station. The next day the commissioner recovered my card, sent me a photo of it and told me to stay calm.”
However, days later they began to use their card. “They made transactions for 30,000, 40,000, 50,000 and 60,000 pesos. When I went to the bank, they told me that they were paying bills in businesses in Puerto Madryn and in Trelew with automatic debit,” he explained.
As he explained, “they took 380,000 pesos in five days, almost his entire salary.” “Luckily my brother went to look for the card after five days, if they didn’t get everything out of me, they made a mess,” he said.
“The only people responsible are the Gan Gan police and there are videos that hold them responsible,” he said.
Finally, he closed: “The Justice of Madryn – which is investigating the case – has behaved very well, but so far no one has returned my money. I honestly do not know if the chief of Police (César Brandt) or the Minister of Security (Miguel Castro) are aware of this, but the Gan Gan police are involved in this robbery.”
A police officer stole the card of a retiree who asked for help and wanted to take out a loan
A Santa Fe policeman was sentenced to two years in prison and pay a fine of 15,000 pesos after stealing the debit card of a retiree who asked him for help, taking 8,000 pesos from his bank account and trying to obtain a loan.
As reported by the Complex Crimes Prosecutor of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Lucas Leandro Cabrera stole a retiree’s debit card on May 31, 2021, when he was working as an additional agent at a bank branch located at 2,500 Freyre Avenue.
“The retiree approached Cabrera to ask him for help in relation to an operation he needed to do at an ATM. The uniformed officer appropriated the victim’s debit card without authorization and observed him while he entered the password that allowed him to enter the account, ”he completed.
The same day, the police officer used the card at a branch of the bank located at Javier de la Rosa at 800 to withdraw 8,000 pesos from the victim’s account. In addition, “he requested a loan of 42,000 pesos at the cashier,” although this procedure was rendered ineffective due to the complaint made by the retiree.
